Job Description:
The Director of FP&A is driven, organized, energetic and owns FP&A coverage for a broad program or portfolio of multiple business units, responsible for the quality and timeliness of financial planning, reporting, and analysis across that scope. As a recognized financial partner to multiple senior leaders, you will translate financial insights into strategic recommendations and manage multiple internal stakeholder relationships. This role carries formal or informal leadership responsibility — at times including direct reports — and serves as a senior member of FP&A expected to hold a high standard for analytical work, mentor junior team members, establish best practices, and help foster a culture of excellence, positivity, and accountability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own and drive planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis activities across an assigned portfolio of business units or programs on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cadence. Accountable for the quality and timeliness of all deliverables within scope.
- Build and maintain financial models and scalable reporting processes. Proactively identify and lead automation opportunities that reduce manual work across the team.
- Analyze performance and develop monthly commentary for assigned business units that reflects a deep understanding of the business drivers and strategies. Ensure accurate and timely production of periodic financial reports and present them to senior leadership monthly.
- Manage expenses and headcount across business units, providing visibility to senior leaders on staffing, capacity, and productivity metrics. Craft relevant KPIs to measure business performance.
- Serve as a recognized financial partner to multiple senior business leaders, influencing strategic decisions rather than just fielding requests.
- Represent Finance in driving key strategic initiatives to enhance ROI.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure seamless close processes and accurate financials.
- Provide ad-hoc support on various strategic initiatives to drive growth, efficiency and profitability.
- Actively mentor junior FP&A team members and help set the standard for work quality and professional development on the team — regardless of formal direct report structure.
Requirements:
- Finance professional with at least 7–10 years of progressive FP&A experience, including demonstrated ownership of a business unit or program and experience working alongside and advising senior leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- A background in the mortgage industry highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting, economics, and corporate finance.
- Advanced modeling skills with Excel and other software. Proactive approach to building robust reporting processes with an eye for automation and simplification.
- Comfortable analyzing large volumes of complex data and communicating findings concisely to diverse audiences. Utilizes strong business acumen to translate complex information into actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Able to set priorities and manage self and others to deadlines.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and a focus on building strong partnerships with internal customers and within the team.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
