You will become part of the engineering productivity team. We enable the Miro engineering organisation to build and ship high-quality software faster by providing metrics and insight to build efficiency and effectiveness in our engineering workflows. Together, we will design and run improvement cycles to improve and innovate how we do things today and design the processes of tomorrow.
About the Role
At Miro, Analytics, Marketing, Product, Engineering and Design work hand in hand within the AMPED department. We use Jira to empower our teams to track and coordinate work according to our Miro Way of Working. In addition we are at the scale where strategic and tactical decisions need extensive data support and analytics, the Jira ecosysteem is an important source. This requires a well maintained and lean Jira setup that integrates well within our tooling ecosystem. The Jira Administrator & DevOps engineer is responsible for maintaining our Jira Cloud instance, develop surrounding solutions to integrate into our engineering processes and automate tasks to reduce toil.
What you’ll do
- Maintain, administer, and optimise our Jira Cloud instance
- Provide consultation and guidance to teams on using Jira effectively to meet their workflow and reporting needs
- Co-create and execute a strategy to future-proof Jira and its ecosystem
- Complete routine Jira maintenance and cleanup activities
- Advise, implement, and maintain Jira plug-ins to enhance functionality and efficiency
- Develop and maintain integrations between Jira and other systems, such as Backstage and custom scripts
- Develop robust custom scripts and automation solutions (TypeScript and/or Python)
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of CI/CD principles and ensure seamless integration of collaboration software like Jira into our development workflows
- Work closely with the engineering productivity team to gather and analyse engineering metrics, providing valuable insights based on accurate and relevant data
- Offer support and guidance to team members, addressing their questions and concerns promptly through our helpdesk
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, translating technical concepts into easily understandable terms
- Maintain accurate and understandable documentation of all work performed
What you’ll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven experience as a Jira administrator and integration specialist for at least 5 years
- Proficiency in scripting language for scripting and automation. Experience with TypeScript and/or Python is a plus
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles and their application in a DevOps environment where agile methodologies are applied
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and how these translate into ways of working for teams enabled by Jira
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills can act as a consultant if needed
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and documentation
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide guidance to cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for streamlining processes
- Prior experience with Jira plug-ins and Backstage integrations is a plus
- Familiarity with engineering metrics and the ability to extract meaningful insights from data is a plus
