About The Role:-

  • As a Engineering Manager in DevOps you'll be a promoter and ambassador of DevOps space. As a DevOps Manager, you will handle the entire DevOps lifecycle and accountable for the implementation of the process. You should possess sound knowledge of various tools and technologies used by the team.
  • As a Manager, you will bring rich knowledge on engineering tools and develop this expertise. You will care for and nurture the growth of DevOps Engineers to ensure they are inspired by a sense of purpose and are continually building their mastery and autonomy.
  • Responsible for the personal development and performance reviews of the engineers. Coaching and development planning on topic expertise and personal development by promoting a continuous development culture. Recognise and develop top-talent and proactively manages under-performance. Push the boundaries of expertise to innovate, test and learn and experiment.
  • Essential skills:-
  • Experience developing & operating cloud services or large distributed applications in production
  • Programming and scripting languages (Python, bash, Java Script - additional experience with PHP, Groovy, Java, and/or Go is a plus)
  • Using CI/CD scripting tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform or Chef
  • Experience in Cloud Native application development using EC2, ASG, Containers and orchestration ( Kubernetes) independently scalable microservices
  • Issue tracking and collaboration (Jira and Confluence).
  • Producing documentation in support of developed work (KBs, run books, help guides)
  • Experience running a team of 5-6 people, responsible for DevOps activities including service upgrades, runbook creation, and process automation, meeting key Metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of a large organization from SVPs to individual engineers, Development, product managers, and program managers.
  • Personal experience having launched or supported a complex program or project with infrastructure and software components.
  • A record of building strong collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries (e.g. Cloud Services, Development, product, support teams).
  • Proven capacity to build and sustain a high-performing software engineering team operating at various scales and business demands.
  • A track record in building the next generation of software engineers in your team or peers team, organization.
  • Personal experience managing and leading teams and or different cultures.

  • Good verbal and written communication

What your impact will look like here:-

  • Manages multiple DevOps Engineers, setting goals and working towards meeting roadmap objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate existing systems against industry standards and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensures AWS cloud spend on the products being managed is efficient and responsible.
  • Interacts with DevOps leadership to keep abreast of objectives and roadmap. Transfers knowledge and collaborates across functional lines and/or across departments.
  • Interacts with direct reports and peers in management, customers, and vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs.
  • Help establish a culture of continuous innovation
  • Mentor, coach, and develop employees through onboarding, open communication, training, development opportunities, and performance management processes. At the same time, it builds and maintains employee morale and motivation, ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies, and fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

  • Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring remote engineers.
  • Effective communication skills for working across multiple teams and departments
  • Strong experience working with cloud hosting infrastructure in multi-cloud environments like AWS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code in AWS (Preferably Terraform)
  • Passion for security, identifying opportunities to improve security and testing
  • Strong people management experience and will have a passion to develop people
  • Orchestrated process improvement by bringing in efficiencies in people, process and technology
  • Develop monitoring solutions to provide full visibility to the different product components using tools and services like ELK or Prometheus
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, effective problem- solving skills and logical thinking ability and should have passion to collaborate in a multi-cultutral team.
