Role Description
As Strategy Associate, you will own one of the most important levers on NEWME’s P&L. You will set
the ambition, design the roadmap, and drive execution end-to-end across sourcing, pricing, product
mix, markdowns, returns, and inventory health.
• Own Gross Margin as a metric – track, diagnose and improve overall GM as well as GM by
category, collection, vendor, channel and SKU.
• Set ambitious GM targets – define quarterly and annual GM goals, build the bridge of
initiatives required to hit them, and review progress weekly with leadership.
• Hunt for margin leakage – identify where margin is leaking (over-discounting, high-RTO
categories, aged inventory, vendor cost creep, wrong price ladders) and design fixes.
• Sourcing & cost optimization – partner with the buying and sourcing teams to negotiate
vendor costs, evaluate alternate suppliers, and re-engineer high-cost styles without hurting
design intent.
• Pricing & markdown strategy – build the framework for MRP setting, discount depth, sale events,
and pricing markdowns to maximise realised margin while being inventory light.
• Product mix steering – work with category and marketing teams to push high-margin styles
and rethink chronically loss-making ones.
• Communicate up – present GM performance, risks and bets clearly to founders and
leadership; turn analysis into crisp decisions.
• Drive cross-functionally – collaborate with buying, sourcing, marketing, finance and ops to
actually move the number, not just report it.
• Thrive in a high-octane, high-ownership environment.
