About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager to work closely with leaders and teams across the company to scale our people practices as we grow. In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to managers, helping drive performance, culture, and engagement while building HR processes that support a fast-moving tech startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership
- Partner with founders and leaders to align people strategies with business goals
- Coach managers on performance management, team development, and leadership skills
- Support org design, workforce planning, and team scaling initiatives
Employee Lifecycle & Experience
- Oversee and improve processes across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, development, performance, offboarding)
- Act as a point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent practices
- Drive employee engagement, feedback, and retention initiatives
Performance & Talent Management
- Support goal setting, performance reviews, and continuous feedback processes
- Identify talent gaps and partner with leadership on succession planning
- Collaborate with recruiting to ensure strong hiring practices and team fit
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with local labor laws and regulations
- Maintain and improve HR documentation, policies, and processes
- Partner with payroll, benefits, and external vendors as needed
- Own the partnernship with our legal team ensuring swift communication with Nimble's employees seeking guidance on immigration status
Culture & Change Management
- Help shape and scale company culture and values
- Support change management during periods of growth, restructuring, or transformation
Requirements
- 4–8+ years of HR experience, including time as an HR Business Partner or similar role
- Experience working in a tech startup or high-growth environment
- Strong knowledge of performance management, employee relations, and employment law
- Proven ability to influence and coach leaders at multiple levels
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes from scratch
- Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting engineering, product, or technical teams
- Exposure to global or multi-country HR operations
-Background in scaling teams from early-stage to growth-stage
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Must be able to get to work locations in SOMA, SF daily and South San Francisco as needed

$130,000 - $180,000 a year
The above range is the base salary range. This position will also receive generous equity!
