HPE has committed to reduce Scope 1, Scope 2 carbon absolute emissions by 70% and Scope 3 carbon emissions by 42% based on 2020 baseline.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is seeking a Sustainability Technical Analyst for our Global Operations organization. This role is a great entry level opportunity to getting deep and rich experience and exposure into the execution and strategy efforts to reduce carbon footprint across a global supply chain.
The successful candidate will support the senior team members to establish and execute initiatives to reduce HPEs carbon footprint.
Responsibilities include data analysis, calculations required for calculating carbon footprint, calculating carbon reductions, presenting findings in papers, presentations across internal and external stakeholders, and tracking performance against sustainability goals across manufacturing, assembly, components suppliers, logistics, transportation, and packaging.
The ideal candidate has an interest in supply chain, business operations, engineering, and sustainability.
This role will serve as a support for sustainability, zero-carbon efforts within Global Operations. This role will support the Sustainability Leads across five primary functions: (1) Carbon Emissions measurement, tracking within global operations (in-house and contract manufacturing, component and raw materials, logistics, supply chain and transportation, HPE finished goods and service) for annual corporate environmental reporting. (2) Develop zero-carbon roadmap, annual carbon reduction targets and initiative pipeline to contribute towards achieving the 42% absolute carbon reductions by 2030, and zero-carbon by 2040. (3) Support the SME within HPE on carbon-reduction, reporting efforts within global operations across HPE and support BUs on identifying opportunities to reduce carbon (4) Host a CO2e dashboard to provide carbon-emissions by BU/product and develop product carbon footprint for HPE products/services (5) Engage with external reporting, alliance entities and organizations to ensure HPE's carbon emissions reporting and governance structure best meets regulations.
This is an entry level position within the field of corporate sustainability strategy and global operations functions, and a great opportunity to join a team working on innovative solutions on measuring, digitizing, and reducing carbon footprint across HPE products, and supply chain.
PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS FOR AN INTERNSHIP , YOU SHOULD BE CURRENTLY STUDYING and for at least the next 6 months IS MANDATORY TO BE LOCATED IN COSTA RICA
Key Responsibilities include:
• Establishes baseline carbon footprint across each category within global operations: logistics and transportation, manufacturing, components, raw material and supply chain, purchased goods and services, packaging and transportation.
• Supports the development the annual carbon reduction target, budget, project pipeline across global ops to achieve 2030 targets.
• Supports the digitalization of carbon emission measurement, tracking, and reporting across HPE's BUs to display carbon emissions breakdown by BU, by product and service. This is a first-in-industry effort which HPE aims to utilize to support HPE's environmental reporting.
• Applies advanced, analytical approaches towards measuring and reducing carbon footprint within each Scope 3 carbon emissions category and collaborates across internal stakeholders, leaders within manufacturing, components, planning and operations to drive actions and achieve results.
• Supports large, cross- functional project teams, providing mentoring and guidance across HPE product/service.
Education and Experience Required:
• Working towards completion of a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, sustainability, environmental sciences. Experience such as previous projects or internships within environmental sustainability is a plus.
• Interest in pursuing a Masters or Advanced degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong team and project management skills, including project structuring and Supporting multiple work streams independently.
• Excellent business acumen, technical knowledge within multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications, technologies, and emerging industry trends.
• Comfortable with actively presenting or participating in management meetings.
• Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability, working across time zones.
• Strong problem-solving skills that can anticipate customer, organizational needs and creatively collaborate with stakeholders to overcome obstacles and gets it done.
• Exceptional written, verbal communication and influencing skills.
• Extensive knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Environmental Reporting Requirements, software's and willingness to utilize databases used to support corporate sustainability and environmental reporting.
• Excellent team and project management skills, including project structuring.
• Strong business acumen and technical knowledge across multiple business units, with an understanding of emerging trends.
