Summary

Production Engineering at Pismo is a diverse, dedicated and passionate team of engineers and leaders, responsible for providing the core infrastructure for Pismo’s growing product platform across the globe. We are guided by best practices based on testing, continuous integration, automation and reliability.
Working as part of a truly global organisation, the Staff Database Engineer is responsible for supporting both relational and non-relational databases within Pismo's global production infrastructure as well as key teams across our Engineering and Client communities.
This is a technical and hands-on role with great potential for future progression as the team evolves - you will be actively involved with all aspects of the team, helping the squad to solve complex problems and harnessing your professional experience alongside your strong desire to learn and expand your horizons to put in place the foundations for future growth.

What you'll do

Support the DBA squad in the daily operation of Pismo's technology platform, helping fellow DBAs with maintenance tasks on existing databases, answering service desk queries and general support workload from internal users.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exposure to MySQL (essential) or PostgreSQL (ideally both) databases.
  • Familiarisation with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) architectures
  • Experience supporting a production platform; working as part of a global team (i.e., interfacing with multiple timezones)
  • (Desirable) Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB/DocumentDB, or DynamoDB)
  • Performance tuning and problem-solving live incidents under pressure

  • Card Issuing: A fully featured platform for Visa, Mastercard, or private level issuing of credit and prepaid cards. Pismo’s platform allows its customers to control everything from client acquisition to account management.
  • Digital Banking & Wallets: Pismo provides a transaction banking core for modern digital banking experiences, from easy client acquisition to enriched cash-in / cash-out operations and internal transfers / P2P transactions.
  • Seller Management: From the onboarding to the daily management of each seller, Pismo’s platform runs a workflow process with pertinent settlement and commercial parameters for each transaction, such as MDR, clearing rules, settlement requirements, and days to pay.
