Job Description

What a Senior Sourcing Manager does at Visa

The Senior Sourcing Manager plays a critical role in supporting and enabling the Asia Pacific Regional Category Leader and team. The primary focus will be on Greater China markets (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), with expanding coverage across other markets in the region.

As a sourcing lead, you will be accountable for developing sourcing and negotiation strategies to deliver sustainable results across key Marketing Communications categories, including Media, Production, Marketing Technologies, Experiential, Market Research, and Public Relations. This role requires identifying new opportunities for value creation and process improvement, demonstrating a strong sense of urgency, and framing issues and alternatives succinctly to drive decisions forward.

This position reports to the Category Director based in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the APAC category team in developing requirements and implementing formal evaluation processes to prioritize quality, cost, service, technology, and environmental considerations.
  • Utilize strategic sourcing methodologies in all sourcing initiatives, including benchmarking and gap analysis against world-class standards.
  • Manage complex, cross-functional sourcing projects, applying milestone checks and steering team concepts to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Translate business goals into sourcing strategies, policies, and supplier relationships, aligning business and sourcing perspectives to maximize impact.
  • Drive cross-functional negotiation teams, influence stakeholders, and implement world-class negotiation techniques and contractual clauses.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and stakeholders to negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring compliance and favorable outcomes.
  • Lead supplier selection and moderately complex contract negotiations to achieve optimal terms on quality, delivery, and pricing.
  • Maintain an external focus by leveraging industry networks, associations, and peer relationships to identify best practices and innovations.
  • Communicate effectively and frequently, actively listening and valuing diverse perspectives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, proactively identifying alternatives and driving critical thinking to optimize results.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of supplier business models, key drivers, and priorities; lead strategic and operational supplier business reviews.
  • Contribute to achieving defined category performance targets and drive supplier performance through measurement and continuous improvement.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years in Marketing Strategic Sourcing, Performance Marketing, or within a Marketing/Media Agency.
  • At least 5 years leading the development and management of marketing category plans and sourcing strategies, or equivalent experience in an agency environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional accreditation in sourcing or procurement is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mainland China’s suppliers value chain, including SCRM platforms, KOL/Talent commercial arrangements, and media ecosystem relationships.
  • Strong understanding of the creative and production supplier landscape.
  • Solid grasp of marketing metrics and measurement methodologies.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to challenge the status quo and deliver strategic impact through data-driven insights and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, including the development of negotiation plans and strategies.
  • Exceptional relationship-management skills; collaborates effectively with functional leads and senior executives, building credibility and trust with key influencers.
  • Excellent communication skills—written, oral, and presentation—in both Chinese and English, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives independently and deliver superior results.
  • Highly motivated with a proactive, “can-do” approach to work assignments.
