Job Description

The Proposal Consultant is an important part of Rockwell Automation's Lifecycle Services business. You are the subject-matter

expert for the sales organization and team on estimation, proposal generation, and approval processes. We place emphasis.

on developing technical/commercial proposals to meet the needs of our customers and validate expectations with the sales

team. Collaboration is important as you work with multiple delivery teams. You will also work in collaboration with the Application Consultant, who is

generally responsible for defining the scope with the customer.

The Proposal Consultant is a visible position working with main Rockwell Automation partners and customers to develop

commercial offers within the framework of our strategic and financial goals, ensuring compliance with internal policies.

You will need a general knowledge of all our solution capabilities, partners, and competitors in their designated solution

space. Use this knowledge and engage with other main team consultants to fulfill scope requirements. Solve any complex

concerns or issues that may arise by navigating internal organization and processes, and Rockwell Automation resources. For a

successful outcome, you'll take a lead or supporting role to ensure all content and estimates are in order for a comprehensive proposal that

Responsibilities: Strategic/Technical Expertise:

  • Employ commercial and technical skills while tapping your creative side to maximize Rockwell profit and growth opportunities
  • Filter opportunities to pursue, and provide input to increasing successes through our Win Strategy process
  • Negotiate internally and externally using a sound understanding of cost, value, and profit margin to establish pricing with approvals
  • Approve costs, pricing, margins, and other commercial terms within your delegation of authority
  • Convincingly explain our value message and business models in many scenarios and situations, including through direct sales channels
  • Support proposals with customers while instilling confidence in the proposed solution
  • Follow all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory procedures for this position
  • Engage with sales and customers to follow up on proposals
  • Manage project reviews including risk analysis

Collaboration and Management Skills:

  • Work in a environment – both commercially and technically – and engage with other Proposal Consultants, Application

Consultants, Sales/Distributors, Channel Partners, RA Departments, Contracts and Negotiations and other partners

  • Obtain approvals in compliance with Rockwell policies including executive level (PARB) approvals
  • Coordinate legal terms and conditions to support proposal delivery terms, which includes working with the C&N

legal and contracts team, third-party, and customers,

  • Maintain proposal and other tools as opportunities evolve to support automation of important activities (e.g., forecasting)

and facilitate opportunity management without the need to ensure data quality while being available at any time

  • Seek out and participate in continuous improvement through feedback and training opportunities to address identified gaps

and further strengthen required skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar
  • Proficient in English language (written and spoken)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites for proposal-related responsibilities

Requisitions:

  • 2+ years related experience in an industrial environment (engineering, projects, maintenance, and support)
  • Knowledge of industrial products and applications, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation products (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and Rockwell Automation Software)
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Medium Voltage VFDs
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers to provide additional products/services
  • Two years' experience in a customer-facing role, either engineering and completing projects or in a sales role
  • Work in a, matrixed organization team
  • Demonstrated to develop proposals, convey project status updates, design
