Job Description

The Test Team Leader is an important leadership role responsible for guiding the testing discipline throughout the firmware development lifecycle. You will ensure that it delivers high‑quality and reliable embedded software to customers by shaping test strategy, driving execution excellence, and promoting a culture of quality within the product team.

You will provide both technical direction and people leadership, managing a group of testers who contribute to the design, implementation, and validation of complex firmware solutions.

The Team Leader is a bridge between engineering, product management, and cross‑functional partners, ensuring that the Team Leader integrates testing activities into development workflows and aligns them with product goals. You will have a understanding of modern engineering practices, including Agile/SCRUM and SAFe, and the ability to promote continuous improvement in test processes, automation, and team collaboration.

You will report to the Manager located in Poland and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop a team of testers and developers, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide performance feedback, career development guidance for individual growth.
  • Coordinate staffing, workload distribution, and resource planning across test activities.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage, including functional, integration, regression, system, and performance testing.
  • Oversee test automation projects and promote best practices in automated testing.
  • Improve test methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, and other partners to ensure understanding on requirements, priorities, and quality goals.
  • Participate in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and contribute to planning, estimation, and risk assessment.
  • Communicate progress and risks to leadership and project teams.
  • Champion high‑quality engineering practices and ensure adherence to Rockwell Automation's development standards.
  • Promote data‑driven decision‑making through metrics, dashboards, and quality indicators.
  • Support compliance with relevant industry standards and internal quality processes.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience with software or firmware testing within an embedded systems environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams or projects, including mentoring team members.
  • 3+ years of experience with test methodologies, test automation, and quality assurance principles.
  • Broad understanding across multiple teams (test, embedded software, hardware)
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile/SCRUM or SAFe development frameworks.
  • Demonstrated application experience working in process change. This should include communication, scope management, change management, and metrics creation

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in large‑scale, safety‑critical, or industrial automation environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern test automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of firmware development tools, embedded debugging, and hardware‑software integration.
  • Certification in Agile, SAFe, or software testing (e.g., ISTQB).
  • Experience in industrial automation product development or related technical areas, including background with large-scale system development projects
  • Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development
  • Experience in project management, either as a combination of technical lead and project management role or as a dedicated project manager
