Job Description

Summary

Rockwell Automation is the largest company in the world dedicated to industrial automation and information. Here, we connect the imaginations of people with the potential of technology to make the world more intelligent, more connected and more productive. From improving the production of medicines that boost human health to reducing waste in an oil and gas plant, the work we do changes how we live.

We truly believe we are doing things never before possible. And we need the brightest minds to help make that happen – the makers, the forward thinkers, the problem solvers. That’s where you come in.

You’ll be joining the Power Hardware Engineering group where we design and test the high voltage (most commonly 3 phase 480V) printed circuit boards, bus bars, power components and variable frequency drives as a whole. These products enable our customers to achieve their optimum motor control and save energy.

This role reports to the Power Engineering Team Lead and is located in Mequon, Wisconsin.

What you will do

  • Modify and test high voltage printed circuits boards using oscilloscopes, DMMs and other lab equipment
  • Run both functional and qualification tests in our expansive in house motor dyne test lab using Drive Explorer and CCW (Connected Components Workbench)
  • Provide cross functional support and troubleshooting throughout development phase

Skills you have

  • Soldering: both small components down to 0402s as well as heavy copper (multi layer of 2 oz) through hole components
  • Taking and understanding high voltage and current measurements on oscilloscopes and DMMs
  • Drive Explorer, CCW (Connected Components Workbench) and SAP

Basic qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred qualifications

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Experience working safely with high voltage (>50V)
  • Ability to solder and desolder both through hole and SMT components
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits from a schematic and assembly drawing
  • Experience wiring and running a variable frequency drive
  • Experience performing breakdown of components testing
  • Experience performing thermal, short circuit and EMC testing
  • Experience working on a cross functional scrum agile team
  • Experience maintaining, organizing and making recommendations for updating equipment in labs

We connect the imaginations of people with the potential of technology to expand what is humanly possible, making the world more productive and more sustainable. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we employ approximately 23,000 problem solvers dedicated to our customers in more than 100 countries.
