What this job can offer you

The Payroll Data Administrator is an entry-level individual contributor responsible for accurate, timely payroll execution. You follow established SOPs and checklists to perform data entry, document handling, and routine transactions across the pre-pay, run, and post-pay phases, building foundational country and systems knowledge as you go.

In this entry-level role, you provide essential support to accurate, timely payroll delivery: you keep records audit-ready, meet your deadlines, and escalate exceptions early so issues are caught before they reach employees. You partner closely with senior colleagues who guide your development and own the more complex work, contributing to a reliable, high-accountability team environment.

What you bring

    • Understanding of statutory settings, earnings and deductions, and banking validations.
    • Able to execute routine data entry and validations accurately and on time.
    • Competent in Google Sheets or Excel, with strong attention to detail and organizing habits.
    • Collaborative communicator who escalates exceptions early and learns quickly from feedback.
    • Reliable, detail-oriented, and calm when working to deadlines.
    • Comfortable adopting new tools and AI-assisted workflows as they are introduced.
    • Fluent in English; French and/or Dutch is a plus.
    • Aligned with Remote's values and department competencies, and with asynchronous ways of working.

    • Run predefined checks and reconcile basic variances, escalating anything outside your scope.

    Controls, Compliance & Documentation

    • Create and maintain employee payroll records and evidence to audit standards.
    • Execute documented payroll processes and flag when documentation is out of date
    • Maintain data confidentiality and basic compliance awareness (e.g., GDPR, POPIA, or Country equivalents).

    Payroll Administration

    • Support expense management and approvals, processing and routing items accurately and on time.
    • Perform routine data reconciliation, checking inputs and records against source data.
    • Manage mail and payroll correspondence, preparing, sending, and filing accurately.
