Position

Position: Senior Technical Writer

Location: Hybrid, Cluj, Romania

We are seeking a technical writer with strong writing skills and a broad familiarity with computer networking concepts, cloud and virtual environments. The writer will document Riverbed network performance management products using Madcap Flare. The candidate will work largely independently in a quickly evolving engineering environment.

What you will do

• Compose customer-oriented text by studying specifications, interviewing developers, and exploring products hands-on.
• Create technical content following the principles of topic-based authoring to optimize the help system user experience and to provide opportunities for single sourcing and content reuse.
• Plan and manage the document development from project kickoff through product release.
• Develop realistic schedules and meet project milestones on time.
• Maintain good communication with product management, engineering, quality assurance and support subject matter experts to ensure timely delivery of high-quality user documentation and avoid surprises.

What makes you an ideal candidate

• Minimum of 3 years’ technical writing experience, with a minimum of 1-year technical writing experience in computer networking.
• Solid command of technical writing for complex software and hardware, including a strong interest in perfect grammar and attention to detail.
• Good working knowledge of Madcap Flare.
• Experience documenting graphical user interfaces, with minimal experience with command line interfaces.
• Highly flexible and adaptable with the ability to quickly pick up and use new names, labels, terms and conceptualizations of product functionality.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including listening effectively, interviewing and gathering information from sources at all levels in the organization, and working with all levels of staff.
• Ability to carry on productive discussions about complex issues fully and clearly in email exchanges.


Desired experience
• Technical writing experience in virtualized environments (ESXi, Nutanix, Hyper V) and cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.
• Concept level understanding of networking technologies, including routers and switches; LANs and WANs; TCP/IP, NetFlow, SNMP, QoS, SSH, SSL, and packet header fields.
• Experience documenting software APIs.
