We are seeking a skilled and driven Motor Characterization Engineer to join our expanding team and contribute to the success of our organization.
About the role:
Seeking a Motor Characterization engineer to join the engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for developing and executing tests to characterize the high power motors, including BLDC and servo motors. Your work will support motor design, quality assurance and system integration on the aircraft.
Key responsibilities:
1. Design and conduct experiments to characterize drive train parameters such as torque, thrust, efficiency, back EMF, resistance, inductance and thermal behaviour.
2. Analyze test data and create detailed reports to inform design and product decisions.
3. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, aerodynamic and software teams to ensure test validity and integration into overall product.
4. Provide technical input on motor selection, control algorithms and performance tradeoffs.
5. Support root cause analysis for motor-related failures in prototype or production systems.
6. Develop automation techniques and data acquisition systems for motor test bench.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerodynamics Engineering or a related and relevant field
2. 2+ years of hands on experience in electric motor testing or related area.
3. Solid understanding of motor theory and control methods(eg. armature control, field flux control)
4. Proficiency with data acquisition tools and software (eg. LabView, Matlab, Python etc.)
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience with high power motor testing or automotive/aeronautical grade systems.
2. Knowledge of inverter operations and motor control firmware.
3. Hands on experience with embedded systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
