About Sarla Aviation:
Sarla Aviation is at the forefront of revolutionizing urban air mobility with its cutting-edge eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) aircraft featuring innovative tilt-rotor technology. Sarla Aviation, a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, is dedicated to influencing the future of aviation. We are seeking a skilled and driven Flight Dynamics and Controls Law Engineer to join our expanding engineering team and contribute to the success of our eVTOL program.
Job Description:
We are looking for highly motivated Trainee Engineers who bring strong theoretical foundations in control systems, flight dynamics, and aerospace engineering. This is a structured learning and development role where you will be mentored by our experienced team of Flight Dynamics and Controls Law Engineer. You will gradually take on real responsibilities in developing and testing flight control algorithms for our eVTOL aircraft as you grow into the role.
Responsibilities:
During your structured training period, you will be exposed to and progressively involved in:
  • Understanding the full flight envelope and flight mechanics of eVTOL / tilt-rotor aircraft through simulation and study.
  • Assisting in the development and analysis of control laws for various flight phases including hover, transition, and fixed-wing cruise.
  • Running MATLAB/Simulink simulations to evaluate control system performance, stability margins, and robustness.
  • Supporting flight dynamics modelling, including aerodynamics, stability, and control surface characterization.
  • Learning to implement and evaluate different control algorithms (PID, LQR, H-infinity, adaptive, etc.) and understand trade-offs.
  • Participating in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical documentation, analysis reports, and simulation results.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including avionics, software, and structures to understand integrated system behaviour.
Educational Qualifications:
  • B.E. / B. Tech or M.E. / M. Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Control Systems), or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong academic record with coursework in control systems, flight dynamics, or related subjects.
Core Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong theoretical understanding of classical and modern control system design — including PID, state-space methods, root locus, Bode analysis, and pole placement.
  • Familiarity with flight dynamics fundamentals: equations of motion, aerodynamic coefficients, stability derivatives, trim and linearization.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink for system modelling and simulation.
  • Basic understanding of linear systems theory: controllability, observability, state estimation (Kalman Filter concepts).
Personal Attributes:
  • Curious, self-driven, and eager to learn in a fast-paced aerospace startup environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate technical ideas clearly, both written and verbal.
  • Team player who can collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by the challenge of solving novel engineering problems.
