Sarla Aviation, a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, is dedicated to influencing the future of aviation.

About the Role:

The Senior High Voltage PDU Development Engineer leads the architecture, design, validation, and certification of high-voltage Power Distribution Units (PDU) for eVTOL aircraft. This role owns system-level decisions, drives cross-functional collaboration, and ensures safety, reliability, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead system architecture and design of High Voltage PDUs (300–1000+ VDC).
  • Own end-to-end development of HV hardware including contactors, fuses, sensors, busbars, pre-charge/discharge circuits, and isolation monitoring components.
  • Drive trade studies, system modelling, and design reviews.
  • Perform safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and SSA under ARP4761 and ARP4754A frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards including DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C, and MIL-STD-704.
  • Define and execute validation and verification strategies covering functional, environmental, EMI/EMC, and HV insulation testing.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and guide design improvements.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, battery, avionics, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration and DFM/DFT.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional technical alignment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–15+ years of experience with high-voltage power systems (EV, aerospace, industrial power, etc.).
  • Strong expertise in HV system design, insulation coordination, protection strategies, and safety principles.
  • Hands-on experience with HV PDU or related HV hardware development.
  • Knowledge of aerospace certification processes and safety frameworks.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Altium, Cadence, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, and requirements management tools.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with eVTOL, electric aircraft, hybrid-electric propulsion systems, or aerospace powertrains.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards like ISO 26262 or ARP4761.
  • Familiarity with HVIL, BMS interfaces, isolation monitoring devices, and EMI/EMC design principles.
  • Hands-on HV lab experience including testing, data analysis, and prototype builds.
  • Experience with HV mechanical packaging and thermal management.
