The Opportunity
No recycling business works without reliable feedstock. The ability to source, evaluate, and secure consistent volumes of battery scrap — from the right channels, at the right price, with the right chemistry — is the foundation everything else is built on.
As Sourcing Specialist, you will build and own Scimplify’s scrap supply chain for battery recycling. You’ll be the person who knows where the material moves, who controls it, and how to build lasting relationships in a space where trust is the real currency.
Roles & Responsibility
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers of battery scrap — spent battery packs, production rejects, end-of-life cells, and industrial surplus
  • Build and manage a network of collection partners, aggregators, and direct sources across India
  • Negotiate pricing, volumes, and quality specifications with suppliers
  • Work with the Lead Scientist to characterise incoming feedstock and ensure compatibility with process requirements
  • Track market dynamics — scrap availability, pricing trends, seasonal patterns, and regulatory shifts
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations around battery waste handling, transportation, and storage
  • Develop standard operating procedures for scrap intake, sampling, and quality verification
Who You Are
  • You understand how scrap moves — the formal channels, the informal networks, the relationships that make things happen
  • You’ve built supplier networks in battery scrap, e-waste, scrap metals, or related categories
  • You know that in this space, trust and relationships matter more than pedigree
  • You are comfortable operating in unstructured environments and can navigate both a scrapyard and a boardroom
  • You have strong negotiation skills and a keen sense of market pricing
  • Domain knowledge and hustle matter far more than formal credentials
