Why we’re a great company to work for

Seeking Alpha is the leading online destination for engaged investors. We have an awesome product. Our crowdsourced research and cutting-edge investing tools are helping nearly 300,000 paying subscribers exceed their financial goals.

We care about work-life balance: We work primarily from home, provide lots of perks, and insist that you enjoy them.

We invest in people. We consider each employee a long-term investment, and we see value in continuously nurturing and training our teammates.

As our News Editor, you'll be responsible for handling news coverage, potentially including topics like corporate earnings, dividends, M&A, corporate events, C-Suite changes, regulatory matters, economic data, Wall Street analysts, market movements, and macro events that could impact individual stocks or financial markets in general.

In this position, you'll monitor financial news services like corporate press releases, RSS feeds, Twitter, and any other potential sources for major business news. You’ll also report and interpret insights provided by analysts and high-profile investors to provide our subscribers with insightful commentary.

We’re especially interested in candidates who can go beyond the headline numbers to dig out critical insights and provide the context necessary to provide a deeper understanding of potential investment opportunities.

  • 2-5 years of experience as a reporter or editor for the stock market or financial topics in general.
  • Experience with geopolitical and general news.
  • The ability to write quickly, concisely, and accurately about breaking news events, while maintaining a conversational style and not losing sight of the “big picture.”
  • The ability to explain complicated topics clearly and without leaning heavily on jargon.
  • The ability to multitask among multiple tasks, including monitoring news sources, and writing short-form and long-form news updates (as needed), while prioritizing and coordinating with fellow team members when needed.
  • Comfort with discussing the details of financial statements, SEC filings, earnings, and broad financial topics.
  • Ability to learn quickly and dive into new challenges.

Working terms:

  • Weekend coverage - Will require availability on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Remote work in the US.

The applicable salary range for this position is $70,000/yr to $80,000/yr which depends on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs, and market demand.
