About the job
This position is needed to Twilio is in search of a highly skilled and seasoned Senior Workday Architect with expertise in Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, and Benefits. As a pivotal member of our team, you will take charge of all things Workday – focusing on payroll, time tracking, absence, benefits to elevate our Workday platform and provide unparalleled support to our growing Twilions.
This proactive role requires collaboration with internal People teams to implement, optimize, and maintain the Twilio Workday platform. The ideal Architect will not only design and implement system changes but also maximize system efficiencies to meet the strategic and operational needs of the business while serving as a subject matter expert.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- System Design and Implementation: Design and implement system changes to align with business needs, managing the setup and data elements of foundational structures in Workday. Extensive knowledge understanding the system life cycles and possess a mix of HR system and process knowledge to interpret business requirements into technical solutions. Manage the lifecycle of features, from inceptions to implementation, throughout production until retirement/upgrade.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in Workday, emphasizing proficiency in Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, and Benefits. Provide consultative practical solutions with business process, design, configuration, and testing. Proactively offering options, risks, and downstream impacts related to decisions.
- End-User Support: Serve as an escalation point for advanced system issues to determine root cause analysis, identify, and implement potential solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business units to build strong relationships, ensuring alignment between Workday capabilities and business goals. Act as a trusted advisor to the stakeholders to influence the technology decisions.
- Reporting and Dashboards: Develop custom reports and dashboards tailored to the specific needs of business units, enhancing data-driven decision-making.
- Training and Documentation: Provide training and assistance to People support staff, creating and updating documentation and communications to ensure clarity and consistency. Mentor junior peers and offer shadowing opportunities.
- Release Management: Review functionality delivered in Workday releases to assess business impacts and identify opportunities for enhancements.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accountability for data integrity, focusing on quality, accuracy, reporting, timeliness, and usability across core systems and related interfaces.

Required:
- 5+ years of Workday configuration experience with a specialized focus in Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, and Benefits.
- Exceptional attention to details, critical thinking, commitment to data integrity, organization, and adept problem-solving skills.
- Ability to gather technical and business requirements and translate into action plans.
- Understanding of data privacy practices and regulations, coupled with the discipline to handle highly strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to influence decisions and drive results.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with business units and third-party vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver timely, quality work within deadlines.
- Initiative-driven, inherently curious, and possessing analytical thinking.
- Excellent knowledge of PC software, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace.
- Able to align to global schedule with preferred East Coast business hours
Desired:
- Workday Pro certifications are a plus.
Location
- This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in California, New York, New Jersey, Washington, or Pennsylvania.
Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado: $102,160.00- $127,700.00
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
