About the job

This position is needed to design customer experiences focusing on Twilio’s messaging platform experience. You’ll own critical design projects while partnering with our senior and lead designers on the team, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to discover, define, and design lovable products for our customers. The ideal candidate will be a vocal and committed advocate for our customers, takes a holistic, human-centered approach to design, and is a supporter of our inclusive Design System. You will work alongside product designers, product managers, engineering partners, and our customers.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Translate project goals into design paths, collaborating with product and design teams to ensure alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with lead designers to create customer journey maps, flow maps, interaction designs, and high-fidelity UI components using Twilio’s design system, with guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders to refine designs and enhance user experience while maintaining open communication with your manager and design leads on project status and risks.
  • Clearly explain design decisions and use the design system and UI best practices to create effective multi-page and multi-state experiences.
  • Use research insights and domain knowledge to inform design strategies, exploring different processes to find innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure seamless design handoff, delivering products that meet user expectations. Lead designers will provide direction and feedback to ensure successful implementation and alignment with cross-functional teams.
  • Remain open, transparent, and inclusive while sharing work at various stages of the process.

Required:

  • A portfolio showcasing a range of design projects that demonstrate your ability to solve complex design challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Strong command of UX/UI design best practices, with experience in designing multi-page or multi-state user experiences, and familiarity with design systems.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, and to articulate design rationale clearly.
  • Experience in conducting usability tests, analyzing results, and utilizing existing research insights to inform design iterations (Experience with conducting user research is a plus).
  • Ability to translate project goals and requirements into multiple design paths, contributing to product definition and business goals.
  • Proactive in seeking feedback, managing communication, and scoping work independently, ensuring thoughtful, user-centered designs are delivered on time.
  • Has 2+ years of industry experience and a related degree or equivalent experience in software interface design and/or development.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in the field of Human Computer Interaction or Design is a nice to have.
  • Experience at a SaaS software company serving B2B customers.
  • Experience in data visualizations that cater to developers as a primary persona is a nice to have.

Location

This role will be remote, and based in Canada.

Travel

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 5% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.
