Who are we looking for?
The Data and Automation Analyst is a member of the Internal Audit team and will be responsible for financial and operational analytics, modeling, reporting, building automations, and business support for key parts of the organisation. This role requires in-depth business knowledge and advanced skills in data manipulation to translate business needs into insights and analysis as well as in building automations that solve business needs. This also includes assisting the IT audit team as needed. This individual will also create and maintain detailed business requirements, outlining problems, opportunities and solutions for our business. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly analytical and detail oriented.
What will you do?
- Perform detailed analysis of source systems and source system data, and model that data in a data visualisation tool (Tableau)
- Create and maintain dashboards using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server using a variety of sources
- Perform ETL (“Extract-Transform-Load”) processes on large datasets
- Manipulate large datasets, e.g. create complex joins and nested loops, for Tableau data source creations
- Gather business requirements and propose BI solutions
- Work directly with existing business units to define and create visual reports and dashboards for both all levels of business
- Publish, analyse, and improve management information dashboards, operational business metrics decks and key performance indicators
- Create interactive, drill-down dashboards and use stories, as appropriate
- Design automated solutions for recurrent reporting (daily/weekly/monthly)
- Contribute to the continued development of report automation and self-service distribution through Tableau and other platforms
- Manage on-demand (ad hoc) requests to support the evolving needs of the business
- Identify data quality issues and work with cross-functional team to correct issues
- Use in-depth understanding of both data and visual sides of visualisation to deliver high quality work products that delight end users
- Use in depth code-based knowledge to build automations (BOTs and Automated Workflows) that solve business needs in support Internal Audit and other key business users (Python, Jupyter, Alteryx, and other systems as needed)
- Manage ongoing needs of automations
- Perform IT testing (SOX/ IT Audits/ Operational Audits) as needed to support the IT SOX Team
What skills and knowledge should you bring?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other analytical field, or experience in an analytical role, required with at least 3+ years in consulting or similar developer/analyst position implementing Tableau dashboards, preferred
- Practical knowledge of SQL and Python
- Expertise in a data visualisation tool (Tableau or equivalent), required
- Proven experience in development in BI tools (Tableau preferred)
- Familiarity with Alteryx, nice to have
- Excellent knowledge of SQL for performing data analysis and performance tuning
- Proven experience in the development of automations (BOTs and Automated Workflows)
- Expertise in an automation tool (Python, Jupyter, or equivalent)
- Skilled with data analysis, data visualisation and reporting & analytics
- Proven experience with IT Audit
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) software
- Advanced Excel skills- using pivots, v-lookups, etc.
- Ability to test and document end-to-end processes
- Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities along with the ability to effectively present to the target audience
- Ability to take concepts from whiteboard to implementation
- Ability to perform detailed data analysis, i.e. determine the structure, content, and quality of the data
- Confidence, poise and diplomacy when interacting with all levels of management
- Demonstrate integrity, values, principles, and work ethic
- Collaborative approach to problem solving
- Good organisational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and a high degree of initiative
- Strong customer focus; good listening, negotiation and problem-resolution skills
- Ability to take direction, learn quickly, work independently, and maintain a level of professional skepticism
