What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Staff Big Data Engineer who is passionate about big data, data engineering and AI. We need someone who can contribute to the development and implementation of robust data solutions and enhance our data capabilities for cyber security research. As our ideal new colleague you should have a strong background in (big) data engineering, building distributed systems over a cloud environment and be comfortable working with large-scale datasets for research purposes (our cybersecurity platform ingest 5-10 Petabytes of data daily).
What will you do?
As a Staff Big Data Engineer at SentinelOne, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure required for effective research for developing cyber threat detections in our products (incl. new AI-powered detections or detections in cloud environments). These infrastructures will be used by data scientists and cyber security researchers to make sense of petabytes of data.
You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional production teams across the entire company, including data scientists, cyber security researchers, product managers, and more.
You will deliver innovative big data solutions that will assist us in developing the best threat detection solution (recognized 3x in-a-row by Gartner as Leaders or by Mitre Att&ck) and protecting tens of millions devices & cloud environments of our customers from enterprise & public sector (incl. 4 of Fortune10 and hundreds of Global2000 companies).
What experience and knowledge you should bring
- Multiple years of experience in (big) data engineering, (big) data architecture, and distributed systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (that we use), Java, Scala, or similar
- Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS (our primary), GCP or Azure
- Experience with deploying big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, IceBerg or Trino
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Grafana or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present and explain complex data and models to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field. Additional or directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects between R&D and product teams
A huge plus would be
- Experience in and passion for cybersecurity
- Experience with MLOPs and working with data scientists
