About the role

Skydio is seeking an enthusiastic flight test operator to help validate the next generation of Skydio products and test automation. Skydio builds innovative flying platforms and software to control them. This role will be focused on software validation vital for reliable operation. This role requires a rigorous approach to field testing complex systems and their capabilities across a wide spectrum of environmental and operating conditions.

Employment Type: This will be a full-time, 6-month contract.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Run test flights to validate system confidence
  • Triage and report failures and drive rapid resolution
  • Track performance and success metrics across different software versions
  • Work with engineering to expand test suite and coverage
  • Validate SW changes to ensure a stable flying platform
  • Generate substantial amounts of logged flight data and media that will be used to characterize and improve system performance and reliability
  • Execute flights at facilities in Belmont, CA and San Mateo, CA

  • Practical experience with UAS and capturing media
  • Software QA/testing background
  • Understanding of UAS subsystems and their real world performance
  • Basic mechanical and electrical system integration knowledge
  • Solid debugging of hardware and software systems
  • Experience operating Linux based systems and command line interfaces
  • Demonstrated passion for things that fly
  • Part 107 Certification

Compensation Range: The hourly wage range for this position is $30-$40 per hour. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
