Our Data Science team plays a pivotal role in delivering data-driven solutions that personalise and optimise these experiences at scale. We use machine learning and sophisticated analytics to enhance user journeys, ensuring they receive highly relevant recommendations while driving business growth.

As a Data Scientist at Skyscanner, you will work on high-impact projects with a test-and-learn mindset. You’ll engage in the full data science lifecycle, from problem definition and data exploration to model development and evaluation. You’ll also collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and scaling of solutions in production environments.

We Are Hiring:

Data Scientist – Marketing Team

Our mission is to optimise Skyscanner’s upper funnel digital advertising to drive sustainable growth and user retention. Our projects enhance paid marketing strategies, including campaign, bidding, and feed optimisation, using advanced analytics and machine learning techniques.

Data Scientist – Hotels & Car Hire Team

Our mission is to develop innovative machine-learning solutions that elevate Skyscanner’s hotel and car rental products. We focus on delivering personalised and relevant results to travellers while optimising revenue streams.

Data Scientist – Flights Team

We strive to provide travellers with a seamless and personalised flight search experience. Our team develops end-to-end machine learning solutions, from simple heuristics to deep neural networks (DNNs), to help users find the perfect flight while offering insights on the best times to fly and book.

Data Scientist – Inventory Optimisation Team

Our goal is to optimise Skyscanner’s search engine to provide the most accurate and comprehensive inventory across all our verticals. We process terabytes of data daily, performing millions of predictions to ensure rapid searches and unparalleled accuracy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research new ways of modelling data for actionable insights and product improvements

  • Build data products and machine learning solutions to support Skyscanner product and business needs for flights & hotels & car hire product.

  • Recommend ways to optimise campaign effectiveness and maximise profitable growth

  • Design agile and rigorous experiments to measure effectiveness of models, tools and programs

  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and marketing to solve quantitative problems and identify trends and opportunities

  • Support with the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of machine learning models in production environments.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience working as a Data Scientist within a commercial environment. Experience in end-to-end model productionisation is a plus.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience with Spark and Apache Airflow is a plus.

  • Machine Learning Knowledge: Solid understanding of machine learning models, their workings, and best use cases.

    • Marketing Team: Experience with campaign, bidding, and feed optimisation is a plus.

    • Flights Optimisation Team: Familiarity with CatBoost, XGBoost, or TensorFlow is a plus.

  • Proficiency in advanced data retrieval, cleansing, and investigations.

  • Experience in code collaboration (PRs, code reviews) and software development tools like Git, CI/CD.

  • Naturally curious and inquisitive – beyond just modelling, you’re interested in data quality, business impact, and system interactions.

  • Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively across different levels of management and technical domains, whether verbally or in writing
