Meet the Moment with Alteryx

We're living through a once-in-a-generation shift in how work gets done. Data, automation, and AI are quickly becoming the center of every business decision - and Alteryx is leading the transformation.

You'll be working on the challenges that sit at the heart of modern business. No matter your role, the work you do will help organizations move faster, see more clearly, and tackle questions that used to feel impossible.

If you're ready to meet the moment with innovation, curiosity, and excellence, there's a place for you here.

We're looking for the architect of the Cloud Data Platform, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering. You will become a hands-on leader in shaping the technical direction of our go-to-market products. You’ll define and lead the next generation of our AI-Native data connectivity platform. This platform will power seamless, secure, and intelligent access to data across cloud and on-prem environments, fundamentally rethinking how connectors, data access, and governance are built and operated in the era of AI.

Responsibilities:
  • Define the architecture and long-term vision for an AI-native connectivity platform, including connectors, storage integration, and unified data access
  • Reimagine connectivity using AI - intelligent connector generation, auto-discovery of schemas, semantic understanding of data sources, and adaptive query optimization
  • Design AI-assisted and AI-driven workflows for credential management, authentication, and authorization (e.g., secure delegation, policy inference, anomaly detection)
  • Drive scalable, consistent connectivity across AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid/on-prem environments
  • Establish extensible frameworks for connector development, lifecycle management, and ecosystem growth
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape platform strategy, reliability, and developer experience
  • Ensure the platform meets enterprise-grade security, governance, and compliance requirements
  • Provide thought leadership, feedback, coaching, and mentoring for fellow engineers.
  • Work closely with Principal/Domain Architects and Engineering to ensure cross-domain alignment with technical strategy.
  • Navigate the ambiguity that is iterative product development.

Requirements:
  • 10+ (or more) years of software engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in senior architect or principal-level roles (or equivalent).
  • Deep expertise in cloud data platforms, distributed systems, and connectivity architectures
  • Strong background in authentication/authorization, identity, and credential management (OAuth, IAM, secrets management)
  • Proficient in multiple languages/stacks (e.g., Java/JVM languages, Go, Python, C++)
  • Expert-level knowledge of relevant architecture/design principles and patterns (e.g., micro-services, domain-driven design).
  • Proven track record building scalable connector ecosystems across databases, SaaS applications, and data warehouses
  • Understanding of hybrid architectures bridging on-prem and cloud environments
  • Ability to operate at a principal level: setting technical vision, influencing across org boundaries, and driving execution
  • Familiarity with semantic layers, data catalogs, or metadata-driven systems
  • Experience in mentoring and growing the skills of other engineers on the team.

Nice to have:
  • Demonstrable experience delivering cloud-native capabilities on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Experience in multi and single tenant deployments.
  • Background in security, governance, or regulated enterprise environments

Find yourself checking a lot of these boxes but doubting whether you should apply? At Alteryx, we support a growth mindset for our associates through all stages of their careers. If you meet some of the requirements and you share our values, we encourage you to apply. As part of our ongoing commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, we’re invested in building teams with a wide variety of backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
