This role can be based out of the East Coast US or Central Europe.
Turbine is building a computational model of human cellular biology, transforming the understanding of deadly disease and designing life-saving treatments for patients with cancer. Combining molecular biology with data science, artificial intelligence and the massive scale of cloud computing, our interdisciplinary team works with leading biopharmaceutical companies across the globe to better understand cancer biology.
Our growing team of biologists, data scientists and software developers has spent the last years building this model, allowing researchers to design and refine therapies before running years of biological experiments. Through millions of simulated experiments, Turbine finds the shortest, safest route for new therapies to reach patients, enabling researchers to focus their resources on fighting disease in the most efficient way possible.

Key points about the role include:
- Independently motivated Business Development Director driving new business from key accounts, from initial outreach to deal signature
- Reports to the Chief Business Officer
- Works closely with business, marketing, scientific and product leadership to identify customers and collaborators for Turbine's Virtual Cell Platform
- In this customers facing role the key activity will be to initiate and develop relationships with parties interested in leveraging virtual assays as part of their R&D workflow
- This is a fully remote position, but applicants must reside in the U.S. East Coast or Central Europe to support required collaboration hours
- Ability to travel up to 30%, to build and strengthen relationships and enhancing in-person collaboration
- This position combines meaningful autonomy with being part of a collaborative BD team and access to executive leadership
Responsibilities:
- Generate leads & advance pipeline for all Virtual Lab products, leveraging inbound, new lead gen activities and existing biopharma network
- Lead the scoping and execution of large strategic deals, representing the voice of customer across key functions
- Inform business development strategy through deep expertise in techbio licensing trends, competitive activity, and emerging business models
- Collaborate on creation of customer facing and marketing materials to ensure impactful communication
- Champion Turbine at key industry events and in executive-level meetings
Qualifications (these are a must - applications lacking will be immediately disregarded):
- Advanced degree (Masters or beyond) in a life science domain
- Demonstrated knowledge of AI/ML enabled pharma research technologies applied to R&D use cases
- 1-3 years of experience in a drug discovery or early-stage drug development environment
- 1-3 years of experience selling to pharma R&D stakeholders
Expectations:
- Proven ability to originate, structure, negotiate, and close deals, hitting or exceeding targets
- Track record of expanding strategic accounts and developing long-term, value-based client relationships
- Experience building business cases, evaluating deal economics, and developing negotiation strategies
- Data-driven approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and performance tracking
- Deep understanding of the biopharma R&D ecosystem, including data, technology and service providers
- Excellent communicator, both oral and written, with ability to convey complex topics and relate business value
- Ability to create and execute strategic account plans, including stakeholder management
- Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally (product, scientific, delivery, legal finance)
