Job Description

As the Category Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead the strategic scaling of a business vertical, positioning it as the undisputed leader in its category while ensuring profitable growth and delivery of VOW (Vedantu Out of the World) Experience which translates into a NPS of atleast 50+. Here's an expanded breakdown of your key responsibilities:

  • P&L and Financial Prudence:

    • Take ownership of the business unit's P&L, monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement

    • Implement strategies to optimize topline, manage costs, and ensure financial sustainability and prudence.

  • Distribution and GTM - Student acquisition:

    • Develop and implement strategies to expand distribution channels, including identifying new channels and optimizing existing ones.

    • Extracting more leads from Organic Channels such as YT, SEO, Direct and other channels and building Paid Channels

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and scalability of distribution efforts

  • Sales Experience - Student Acquisition:

    • Drive overall inside sales to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth

    • Lead Sales ROI Metrics such as Collections / CAC and ensure we get profitable revenue

    • Implement data-driven strategies to optimize sales performance and maximize ROI on marketing efforts

  • Growth Initiatives and Operations Excellence:

    • Drive growth projects and operational efficiency and excellence across all business functions to streamline processes, improve efficiency metrics

    • Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance productivity, efficiency and effectiveness

  • Pricing of Products

    • Maintain average selling price for products and ensure Contribution / Margin guardrails are in line with Plan

  • Product-Market Fit (PMF):

    • Innovate and iterate on the existing business model or develop new ones to achieve product-market fit.

    • Conduct market research and gather customer feedback through listening tools to refine product offerings, pricing and ensure alignment with market needs

  • Strategy and Consumer Insights:

    • Conduct comprehensive market analysis, both outside-in and inside-out, to identify opportunities and competitive advantages.

    • Utilize insights to develop strategies that capitalize on market trends and position the business for success.

  • Service Delivery Experience:

    • Focus on enhancing the overall delivery experience, measured through Net Promoter Score (NPS) and outcomes achieved.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve service quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams.


Requirements

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Must Haves:

  • Demonstrated success in sales or revenue roles, with a proven track record of achieving targets and managing P&L at a minimum scale of 50Cr.

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial metrics including P&L, EBITDA, and cash flow.

  • Strong operational background, including managing distribution channels and overseeing digital marketing and sales efforts. Experience in managing the P&L of online categories or channels is mandatory with a strong background in sales, in either online or offline channels.

  • Proven ability to conceptualize new products based on product-market fit and consumer insights

  • Exposure to digital, performance, and have demonstrated acquisition channels mastery, with a solid understanding of go-to-market strategies.

  • Experience in online distribution channels is preferred.

  • Growth mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.

  • Ability to conduct consumer insights and translate findings into actionable strategies.

  • Strong aptitude and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data effectively.

  • Hold a B.Tech/MBA from top-tier colleges, and a seasoned Business leader with 8 plus years of post-qualification experience in the EdTech Sector.

Good to Haves:

  • While startup experience could be a plus, the candidate should have the experience of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with top-of-the-funnel go-to-market strategies, including YouTube, SEO, social media, B2B partnerships, and event-led initiatives.

  • While not mandatory, experience in service delivery companies would be advantageous. Exposure to projects or companies focused on achieving high Net Promoter Scores (NPS) would be highly beneficial.
