How you’ll make an impact
Xero’s Regional Strategy and Operations team partners closely with our regional UK Senior Leadership team to drive performance across the region. Most importantly, you’ll be the right hand person to our regional MD to help drive performance of the region. The role will be responsible for driving the high level regional strategy, translating that strategy into an operational plan and driving execution throughout the year. The role will work closely with global functions - Product, Sales, Marketing, Ecosystem, Partnerships, Customer Operations, Product Marketing & a range of other teams - to ensure delivery of key enablers for the market. You’ll closely collaborate with our Global Strategy and Operations team to ensure both the global strategy is represented in the market as well as inputting key regional needs are incorporated into the corporate strategy and plans. The combined disciplines of strategy and operations will provide more streamlined support to our senior leaders
What you’ll do
Lead the ongoing definition and evolution of our long-term strategy in the region you are responsible for, including evaluating the changing landscape in which Xero operates, identifying the most attractive opportunities and ensuring Xero is positioned to win in the future
Develop our regional operating plans and then drive execution through the year
Lead direct reports from regional strategy, operations, commercial and GTM readiness and work with cross-functional teams from several areas across Xero including Product, Platform, Technology and GTM
Lead our regional annual planning process along with Finance and the SLT - aligning the annual plans with the overarching corporate strategy
Drive alignment between our global strategy and operations functions with the regional and functions strategy and ops
Be a critical member of the regional Senior Leadership team
Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
Communicate recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional management and staff in a clear, concise and impactful way
Support the creation of materials for the Board of Directors and Executive leadership to communicate our perspective on key market trends, strategic implications and strategic recommendations for Xero Support and drive execution (organically and inorganically) of strategic recommendations
Provide mentorship and direction to Strategy and operations team, and contribute to the overall collective toolkit to continually enhance our effectiveness as an organisation
Work with the Central customer team and our other regional Strategy and Operation leaders to improve systems and processes
Drive data and analytics approach to drive decision making

  • Strong experience interacting with and presenting to senior executives

Experience

  • Extensive professional experience in Strategy or Operational roles, majority of which, driving strategy at a management consulting firm or high performing corporate strategy team
  • MBA or relevant graduate degree
  • Extensive experience structuring and managing complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
  • Extensive experience and comfort managing several concurrent projects of varying structures and types, including long-term strategy, internal consulting engagements, and projects that lend a strategic perspective to immediate business opportunities
  • Deep understanding of the SaaS and/or accounting and professional service industry, preferred
  • Demonstrated direct team leadership experience and indirect team leadership of cross-functional resources
  • Demonstrated success in past roles helping companies make and execute choices that led to winning in their chosen domain
