The Head of Legal Operations plays a crucial role in supporting the operational efficiency of the Legal team. This role will support the Legal leadership team to deliver to the functions agreed priorities through the effective and efficient delivery of the function’s portfolio of projects and critical deliverables. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including process improvement, project management, strategy development, technology management and work execution and resourcing.
The role is responsible for managing the functions operational requirements, including tools and processes, as well as embedding consistent project governance to ensure the function is equipped with the right tools, support and processes to perform their best work and deliver to the agreed priorities.
Some of the critical responsibilities you will do...
- Partner with the CLO to drive the legal team strategic planning process, including goal and OKR development, prioritization, measurement and communications.
- Drive execution of the legal team’s strategic initiatives as set out in the OKRs by managing projects in collaboration with the Legal team, including timelines, resources, milestone planning, budget tracking and analysis, status reporting and change requests.
- Lead budget and resource planning. Monitor the legal department spend, identifying areas of opportunity for cost savings and scalability.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual and quarterly budget forecasts, monitoring financial spend/performance in collaboration with the Legal leadership team and finance partners.
- Develop dashboards and provide regular reporting to the legal leadership team to facilitate planning and identify avenues for improvement. Identify bottlenecks in current workflows and prioritize areas of opportunity for workload optimization.
- Support the design of and operationalise a centralized method of intake for legal service requests.
- Design business intelligence strategy to manage data and performance metrics concerning the legal team operations.
- Implement consistent metrics and dashboards to support ongoing tracking and measurement of performance and effectiveness of operational and project initiatives across the legal team.
- Support the preparation of reporting and papers for key stakeholders, including supporting the CLO with submissions to the board as appropriate and required.
- Establish and manage cross-functional working groups/project teams as required to support the delivery of agreed project initiatives and business priorities in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Oversee the invoicing and billing processes and procedures and act at a primary contact for the finance team.
What you will bring with you...
- 5+ years experience in leading a Legal Operations function
- Experience training teams in use of agile and lean methodologies
- Strong track record of project management and delivery
- Proficiency with Google related platforms essential
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
