As the GM External Reporting, you will lead Xero’s financial reporting strategy, ensuring our global financial statements and ASX filings provide meaningful insights for investors and analysts. This 15-month fixed-term role places you at the heart of our financial integrity, where you will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and lead critical cross-functional projects that maintain our position as a market leader in compliance and transparency.
Your work goes beyond standard reporting; you will provide strategic input into major transactions like M&A and capital raises, while also shaping the evolution of our ESG and climate-related reporting strategy. By overseeing the relationship with external auditors and managing bi-annual controls reviews, you ensure Xero’s financial reporting remains accurate and robust as the business continues to grow globally.
The team / how they connect
You will be a senior leader within the wider Accounting team, operating as a key part of our global Finance function. The team works collaboratively across the business to deliver technical accounting expertise and maintain strong relationships with regulators and the Audit Committee.
The team is currently working on / Initially, you will focus on
Managing the production of financial statements for ASX filings and reporting to the Audit Committee.
Evolving Xero’s ESG reporting strategy to comply with emerging global climate-related regulations.
Providing technical accounting advice on ad hoc strategic transactions, including potential partnerships or M&A.
Leading bi-annual controls reviews across the global finance organisation to ensure operational excellence.

Here are some of the things we are looking for
You bring a deep understanding of IFRS and technical accounting, with a track record of managing complex financial transactions in large corporate environments.
Your background includes holding a CA qualification or an equivalent professional accounting accreditation.
You possess the ability to think strategically, identifying the risks and implications of various scenarios to provide clear guidance to the business.
Communicating and negotiating comes naturally to you, whether you are presenting to an Audit Committee or managing relationships with external auditors.
You are an engaging leader who enjoys coaching a team and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Problem-solving is a core strength, and you are comfortable managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail.
