About the role:
The Neobanking team at Zepz is responsible for delivering our latest product. The team is fast-paced working towards iterating on our newest product. You will be managing and fostering ~10 engineers across iOS (swift), android (kotlin), and backend (python) to help the team achieve their goals. You will be at the centre of all activities: hiring, creating roadmaps, evaluating tools and technology, and execution. Our mission is to build a world-class product that benefits our customers and our business. This team acts as a small start-up within the larger organization.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Neobanking, you will:
- Recruit top software engineering talent.
- Develop talent within the team.
- Create a positive, high-performing environment.
- Ensure the team is aligned on company priorities, goals and OKRs.
- Hands-on participation in Engineering tasks such as coding, peer reviews, and building automation tests
- Act as the initial point of contact for your team and facilitate the inclusion of your engineers as required
- Work closely with Product Managers to align on your team’s capacity
- Collaborate with stakeholders, translating requirements into roadmaps
What we’re looking for from you
- Technical ownership of the neo banking domain, accountable for the overall health, continuous improvement and evolution.
- Champion a mindset focused on maintaining a high standard for quality and operational resilience.
- Decisive and opinionated on what good software engineering practices look like.
- Lead cross-team efforts, highlighting areas of improvement and driving execution.
- Motivate team members, drive engagement and steer professional development.
- Have strong communications and presentation skills, be comfortable with presenting at the executive level.
- 2+ years of experience managing teams successfully.
- Experience with managing the design, build and deployment of user-facing products on cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience with Python, PostgreSQL, GCP, iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) development is a plus.
- Experience with banking and/or payment systems.
