Financial Operations Platform for Construction
Technical Product Manager
About the role
tl;dr: We're hiring a hands-on, technical product leader to build new products on top of infrastructure that took us years to build and no one else has. You'll own the full arc from idea to shipped product to ARR, working across Product Analysts, Account Executives, and engineers to move fast, launch repeatedly, and grow revenue.
You'll have a rare advantage most PMs never get: deep proprietary infrastructure already integrated with every major construction platform, and a built-in distribution channel of 500+ paying customers and a growing co-sell network with some of the largest names in the industry. What you build will get used, it will compound, and you'll do it more than once.
No construction experience needed, we'll teach you everything.
Why join us?
- Early-stage, yet de-risked: we are a rare combo of being early stage (high upside) but lower risk (5XX+ paying customers, $Xm+ recurring revenue, profitable & cash-flow positive for over 2 years, hockey-stick growth). You get the benefits of an early stage startup without the risk you’ll have at almost any other startup. You’ll have a ton of impact, work directly with our customers, and get to work on interesting technical challenges you won’t see at bigger companies. Although we’re early stage, we’ve eliminated key strategic risks you’ll face at other startups. Like an unproven product, lack of market validation, lack of revenue, over-reliance on VC funding, co-founder disputes. We’re all young and hungry. Our team is fully in-person, tenacious, and committed - most of us moved to SF from far away (Canada, SoCal, Texas, Virginia) specifically to build Agave from the ground up.
- Team is technical, diverse, young: you'll work with a formidable team that's experienced and ambitious. Our cofoundershave worked together for 10 years, first at a startup that Amazon acquired, then at Amazon, and now at Agave. You'll learn a ton while having outsized ownership. You’ll have a front-row seat to the good and bad of building a company from the ground up.
- Huge opportunity without direct competition: startups are incredibly hard, so you want to join one that has a unique advantage. You don’t want to spend years of your life on a company in a saturated market with tons of competition. We’re seizing an opportunity that’s massive (Construction is the world’s third-largest industry) but also overlooked by most people in startup land. As a result, we have a multi-year head start against potential competitors, increasing our odds of success significantly. We’re also backed by world-class investors (Accel, YC) and Construction insiders (Procore and Autodesk executives, founders of the largest construction tech companies like PlanGrid).
- A platform that compounds: After years of building and developing key partnerships in the industry, Agave has proprietary integrations with every major construction ERP and project management platform that would take any competitor years to replicate. That infrastructure is your foundation. Every product you build plugs into it, and into every product we've already launched. The platform compounds as the suite grows, which means your work doesn't just drive standalone ARR, it makes the whole product more valuable. And unlike most PMs who ship into a vacuum, you're shipping into an existing, growing customer base with co-sell channels into some of the largest companies in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
Agave has spent years building deep, proprietary integrations with the major construction ERP and project management platforms — infrastructure no one else has. Your job is to take each from idea to MVP to production to $1M+ ARR as fast as possible, then do it again.
- Define what gets built. Some products will arrive partially specced; others will start as a blank page. Either way, you'll synthesize signals from customers, PAs, AEs, and the market to define what to build, why, and in what order.
- Lead cross-functional execution. You'll work daily with PAs, engineers, and AEs to move fast, from requirements and scoping through QA, launch, and customer rollout.
- Go deep on the customer. You'll work directly with construction companies to understand their workflows, uncover unmet needs, and shape products that solve real problems people will pay for.
- Set and drive the roadmap. Prioritize ruthlessly across a portfolio of products. Know what's worth building now versus later, and make the case to the team.
- Think in platforms, not features. Every product you ship should make the next one easier to sell and faster to build. You'll keep the compounding effect of our suite in mind in everything you design.
Requirements
- Hands-on: you'll be a full-time builder, not a manager. You must love operating in the messy weeds of nuanced systems, understanding their complexity and simplifying it for our customers. You will focus on product execution and delivery, less on strategy and market research.
- Technical: no need to code, but you must have at least 1 year experience working closely with APIs, databases, SQL, Postman, and similar tools. The more, the better.
- 2+ years experience in software: at least 2 years of full-time experience working for a software company in a data analyst, product, or other technical role. We’re open to exceptional new grads with substantive internships. We want someone hungry and has lots of room to grow, who's ready to roll-up their sleeves and operate in the trenches.
- High ownership + conscientiousness: able to manage many threads at once without sacrificing quality.
- Meticulous attention to detail: structured thinker who nerds-out on nuances, accounts for edge cases, and tests your work thoroughly before calling it done.
- Clear + concise communication: oral and written, must love writing crisp docs for internal + external reference.
- Uncanny ability to deliver results: get the job done consistently, doing any task needed to deliver on time.
- Comfortable with customers: able to work with a wide range of customers, spanning software engineers at startups to CFOs at specialty contractors. Can onboard new customers, run demo meetings, negotiate timelines, and communicate clearly over Slack, Zoom, and email.
- In-person: pumped to work in-person in SF 5 days per week.
- Nice to have:
- Experience interfacing with customers (e.g. running user interviews, demoing SaaS products).
- Knowledge of basic accounting or the construction industry, since many of our use-cases relate to automating financial workflows.

Each interview is 1hr, 45min for our questions and 15min for yours.
About Agave
We’re modernizing construction, a $12T global industry run by siloed software built 20-40 years ago (on-prem, no APIs, no mobile access, etc.).
Our core product is Agave Sync, which helps General and Trade Contractors keep financial data in sync between their field teams on jobsites and their accounting teams in a central back office.
We do this by building proprietary connections between these companies' systems of record using our API and syncing data between them automatically. We save them time and money, making them more productive and profitable.
Our founding team has worked together for 10 years, first at Graphiq (acq. by Amazon) then at Amazon. We've raised over $5m from YC, Accel, and leaders from Plaid, Procore, Autodesk, PlanGrid, Aconex, and more.
