Security Software Engineer II - Krakow
Why We Have This Role
Qualtrics is growing exponentially and that growth results in a constantly evolving threat landscape. Our team is a collection of extremely passionate security engineers, continuously evaluating security of our systems, identifying and responding to potential threats, and implementing alerts, tooling and automation necessary to maintain a strong security posture at scale. Our team is empowered to choose technologies that best solve each problem and to design its own custom tooling, where off-the-shelf products would not suffice. We’re looking for an experienced software engineer with additional experience or interest in security, who will maintain and evolve our custom codebase used to tackle daily challenges of our global Security Operations Center.

How You’ll Grow
- You will have a chance to participate in and/or lead a variety of interesting security projects, both short and multi-quarter ones, likes of which are normally reserved for isolated functions
- You will develop your software engineering skills by using the tools you develop and working directly with other users
- You will have the opportunity to learn security skills directly from talented engineers of varied backgrounds, ranging from incident responders, through application security engineers to enterprise architects
- We’re very open to new ideas. Not every project has to be a resounding success and you can use up to 10% of your total work time on self-development in any direction of your choosing.
Things You’ll Do
- Maintain our custom codebase (especially SOAR) written in modern Python using various databases like Redis and AWS Aurora
- Implement new features and optimize existing ones to drive maximum performance and stability
- Support the team in building automation
- Plan and develop scalable, fast, robust, and simple solutions to solve complex problems
- Participate in code reviews
- Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from other engineers
- Integrate our codebase with security tooling (SIEM, EDR etc.) and company products
- Attend daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, and work with a sense of urgency to deliver value
- Provide leadership, mentoring and training in software development to other security engineers
- Occasionally shadow/participate in SOC oncall/incident response duties, to stay tuned to the teams’ requirements and use of your products
What We’re Looking For On Your Resume
- 3+ years of relevant software development experience
- Strong algorithms, data structures and coding background
- Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
- Experience with professional software engineering practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documents)
- Experience with Microservices Architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with cloud computing and AWS services
- Strong understanding of networking and associated protocols
- Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn
- Security operations or security engineering experience is not required, but very welcome
- Experience with SIEMs (Splunk, SumoLogic etc.) is not required, but very welcome
- Experience with Multiple Operating Systems with a System Administrator level skill set on MacOS and Linux is not required, but very welcome
