The Courseware Development Team within the OpenText Learning Services organization produces learning content for various audiences, enabling our internal and external customers to be successful with OpenText solutions. We particularly support the OpenText Learning Services delivery teams to achieve revenue goals as well as support the enablement goals of the department.

YOUR IMPACT

Are you an experienced courseware development manager? In this position, you are responsible for the management of a seasoned technical development team creating high quality, learning content in a variety of formats purposed for various audiences (end-user through developer), for a wide range of OpenText products and solutions. This role, reporting to the Director of Courseware Development, involves managing a complex portfolio that spans multiple enterprise software applications, ensuring the development of high-quality training content that aligns with organizational goals. This position will manage the regular addition of newly supported products and solutions as well as updates to existing learning content based on varying product release schedules. Courseware priorities and -products are developed in collaboration with Learning Services content development leadership, delivery teams, product teams, and others.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

  • Lead and mentor a team of content development specialists
  • Lead development and timely release of training materials for a variety of delivery methods, including digital learning, classroom, virtual learning, and hands on environments
  • Work with Learning Services leadership and others to assess needs, develop innovative programs, and prioritize deliverables
  • Optimize resource allocation and project timelines to meet deadlines
  • Ensure that learning materials include sound learning and evaluation techniques, proven instructional design methods, and are of high quality
  • Review and test learning content to uphold the standard of courseware, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards
  • Continuously evaluate and action the effectiveness of training materials through feedback mechanisms and performance metrics
  • Analyze reach and revenue metrics, prioritize and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize portfolio for impact
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Courseware Development to provide feedback on projects, schedule, priorities, and other position responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams and individual contributors
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development; formal curriculum development training is an asset
  • Excellent technical, English grammar, technical writing, and communication skills
  • Technical proficiency in content authoring software, as well as virtual learning platforms
  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Programming, or a related field such as Adult Learning, or applicable work experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional design methodologies and techniques
  • Ability to work with multiple levels and groups within the organization to assess needs and recommend viable design solutions and effectively collaborate across Learning Services teams, R&D stakeholders, and others in all regions of the world
  • Strong project management experience leading large scale instructional design projects
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and to recommend approaches to optimizing courseware and learning programs in times of high change
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team, on multiple projects, within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate with stakeholders across the organization
  • Expertise with OpenText products and solutions is a strong asset, as well as experience/expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows (client and server)/UNIX operating systems, and Docker/Kubernetes containerization
  • Programming skills are an asset (C# and Java) as well as a good comfort level with Eclipse and/or Visual Studio
  • Experience with learning content authoring applications including Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word and PowerPoint), Adobe FrameMaker, XML authoring environments, and eLearning development tools such as Adobe Captivate, HTML5, and others
