YOUR IMPACT:

The CDO Network Services team is responsible for designing, operating, and continuously improving a highly available, secure, and globally resilient application delivery infrastructure across on‑premises data centers and public cloud platforms.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring enterprise‑grade availability, performance, scalability, and security of business‑critical applications by providing architecture leadership, deep technical expertise, and operational excellence in load balancing and traffic management technologies. The department supports a 24x7 global environment and works in close partnership with application, cloud, security, and infrastructure teams.

The network environment includes routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, monitoring tools, and cloud networking technologies. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing, maintaining, and enhancing highly resilient enterprise networks across on premises data centers and cloud environments, and will understand the challenges of supporting a 24×7 global operation. This role follows established processes and standards and involves working independently or as part of a team to implement and coordinate highly complex network deployments.

The Principal Network Engineer – Application Delivery serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for F5 BIG‑IP (LTM, DNS/GTM, iRules/TCL), Avi Networks (NSX Advanced Load Balancer), and cloud‑native load balancing services across AWS, Azure, and GCP. This role is accountable for architecting, implementing, optimizing, and operationally supporting application delivery platforms. The position requires hands‑on technical leadership, the ability to operate independently in mission‑critical environments, and responsibility for influencing long‑term platform strategy and standards.


WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:

Architecture & Design

  • Architect enterprise‑scale application delivery solutions using F5 BIG‑IP, Avi Load Balancer, and cloud‑native load balancing technologies.
  • Design highly available, scalable, and secure traffic management architectures across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
  • Lead solution designs, technical reviews, and architectural decisions.

Implementation & Operations

  • Configure and manage F5 virtual servers, pools, nodes, monitors, persistence, profiles, and traffic policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize advanced iRules (TCL) for traffic steering, security enforcement, and application logic.
  • Deploy and manage Avi Controllers, Service Engines, tenants, and GSLB configurations.
  • Administer AWS, Azure, and GCP load balancer services.
  • Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle management of load balancing platforms.

DNS & Traffic Management

  • Architect and support F5 DNS/GTM and cloud DNS services.
  • Implement advanced GSLB, geo‑routing, health monitoring, and failover strategies.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement SSL offload, TLS policies, certificate lifecycle management, WAF integration, and DDoS protection.
  • Partner with Security teams to ensure enterprise compliance and secure application delivery.

Automation & Optimization

  • Develop automation using iControl REST, APIs, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Establish standards and reusable patterns for configuration and deployment.

Leadership & Support

  • Serve as Tier‑3/4 escalation and lead complex troubleshooting for high‑severity incidents.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation supporting 24x7 production environments.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of mostly relevant experience. Highly developed professional/technical skills are needed to perform the job.
  • F5 BIG‑IP: LTM, DNS/GTM, iRules (TCL), BIG‑IQ, and TMOS architecture
  • Avi Networks (VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer)
  • Public Cloud Load Balancing: AWS ALB/NLB/ELB, Azure Application Gateway/Azure Load Balancer, GCP Load Balancing
  • DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, NAT, routing protocols
  • Security technologies including WAF, DDoS mitigation, encryption, and access controls
  • Automation and API integration using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform
  • Monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, Extrahop, ThousandEyes
  • Enterprise architecture and design leadership
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with application, cloud, and security teams
  • Incident, Change, and Problem Management (ITIL‑aligned)
  • Independent operation within highly complex, mission‑critical environments
  • Proficiency in networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnetting, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of network engineering best practices, monitoring policy deployment, script development and information systems, best practices (ITIL).
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work with project stakeholders and a globally distributed team.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift weights of 50lbs.
  • Take part in on-call rotation

Salary Range: $118,000 - $168000 CAD per annum; Depending on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.
