YOUR IMPACT
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will own the design, implementation, and management of our enterprise observability and monitoring stack across hybrid and cloud platforms. In this role, you’ll bring deep technical expertise to drive best practices, enhance monitoring quality, and ensure high system reliability. You’ll deliver actionable alerts and ITIL-aligned operations while collaborating closely with NOC, engineering teams, and leadership to keep our infrastructure running at peak performance.
WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
- Audit & Compliance: Maintain network and cloud documentation to meet internal and external audit requirements. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX) and corporate security policies. Prepare and present compliance reports for audits and management reviews.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assessments across cloud and on-prem network devices. Collaborate with security teams to remediate identified risks promptly.
- Implement best practices for patch management and configuration hardening.
- Cloud & Network Security: Monitor cloud and network environments for security breaches, anomalies, and compliance violations. Manage firewall rules, VPN configurations, and access controls. Support incident response and forensic analysis when required.
- Operational Support: Maintain high availability and performance of LAN/WAN, wireless, and cloud connectivity. Troubleshoot complex network and cloud issues and provide escalation support. Assist in capacity planning and network architecture improvements.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience; Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), cloud, or Zabbix certifications are a plus.
- Strong experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Zabbix, and event correlation systems.
- Deep expertise in Zabbix architecture, templates, event routing, and automation, along with NNMi skills including topology, SNMP, traps, and RCA.
- Advanced experience with log management and analytics, including Graylog pipeline design, parsing, and log ingestion strategies.
- Proven Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience with SLIs/SLOs, reliability architecture, incident management, and production system scaling.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in automation and infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible integrated with GitLab pipelines.
- Understanding of ITIL practices, GDPR/data protection requirements, AI/ML fundamentals, and the ability to leverage LLM-based tools for troubleshooting, documentation, and automation.

Compensation: At OpenText, we offer a thoughtfully designed benefits package that supports your physical, emotional, and financial well-being. As you move through the hiring process, we’re happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.
Salary Range: $67,200 - $110,400 CAD; Depending on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.
