OPENTEXT - THE INFORMATION COMPANY
OpenText is a global leader in information management, where innovation, creativity, and collaboration are the key components of our corporate culture. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to partner with the most highly regarded companies in the world, tackle complex issues, and contribute to projects that shape the future of digital transformation.
AI-First. Future-Driven. Human-Centered.
At OpenText, AI is at the heart of everything we do—powering innovation, transforming work, and empowering digital knowledge workers. We're hiring talent that AI can't replace to help us shape the future of information management. Join us.
The Opportunity:
As part of OpenText’s AI‑first strategy, we are forming a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team to harness the power of our legacy data mastery with the next generation of Agentic AI. Unlike the current bandwagon approach to all things LLM‑powered, OpenText is building on our natural moat: enterprise data management for the biggest brands in the world.
For 35 years, OpenText has been the custodian of the world’s most critical data; we hold unrivaled, enterprise‑grade trust in a market where access to data, the right to manipulate it, and the expertise to leverage it for business outcomes is paramount.
Our Forward Deployed Engineering team (FDE) is at the heart of our AI Practice. FDEs are AI‑expert developers who make contributions beyond code and serve as an essential translation layer between our customers, their business needs, and the technical solutions that enable business transformation.
In this role, you will embed directly with our most strategic global customers to architect agentic tools that solve problems at scale, leveraging the immense data management advantage we have at OpenText. You will be responsible for deploying and bedding‑in production POCs that generate business value, case studies, and establish a new baseline for automation success.
Your unique ability to consult, sell, architect, and build places you at the nexus of multiple OpenText groups. You will provide feedback to Product/Engineering to inform product evolution and help GTM/Sales understand how best to position and pitch us in the market.
What you will do:
Embedding: Discovery and Problem Framing
- Leverage OpenText’s extensive customer knowledge repositories to understand how customers operate, transact, and support their business.
- A key differentiator is that we do not need to learn off the backs of our customers; we already have the data, understand the problems, and can swiftly move into use‑case validation with customer SMEs.
- Strong data science skills are required to extract insights from customer data and demonstrate our mastery of their business.
Prototyping & Impact Evaluation
- Build and ship production‑grade AI agents that leverage OpenText’s proprietary data and tools.
Iteration at Speed
- Move from problem statement to functional PoC in weeks, not months, then deploy to production in a limited release for rapid improvement cycles.
- Maintain close communication with Product/Engineering teams for platform enhancements.
Championing Success
- Bring success stories back from the field to the rest of OpenText. Whether informing product teams as they evolve the AI roadmap, refining GTM messaging and collateral, or enabling sellers, your impact will be significant.
What we Value:
- The "Cool Geek" Aura: You’re a technologist at heart who also loves people. You’re as comfortable writing code for a GenAI agent as you are eliciting business context from a customer over lunch.
- Domain Agnostic: You can pivot seamlessly, from a healthcare data migration one month to a financial services fraud detection project the next.
- Ownership: You take personal pride in your work and do not wait for external motivation.
- Respect the Foundation, Build the Future: You recognize the immense value of OpenText’s legacy data and are excited by the challenge and opportunity of leveraging it for AI tooling.
What you need to succeed:
- Technical Breadth: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one additional language (Java, Go, or TypeScript).
- Data Mastery: Experience with large‑scale data processing technologies (Spark, Kafka) and understanding of storage architecture trade‑offs.
- AI/ML Foundations: Hands‑on experience with LLMs, agent creation (especially multi‑agent frameworks), prompt engineering, and vector databases. LangGraph/LangChain are essential.
- Field Experience: You have deployed multiple systems into production for household‑name brands and can articulate the business problem, the solution you architected, and the realized impact.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical architectures to C‑level executives and then pivot to debugging code with a customer engineering team.
- Travel: Travel to customers will be essential. Estimate 25% travel.
