YOUR IMPACT
The Vice President, Global Facilities is responsible for developing and executing the company’s global workplace and facilities strategy to deliver safe, efficient, cost-effective, and engaging workplaces that support business growth and employee experience. OpenText believes that we are better when working together and colleagues work from our facilities 5 days a week.
This role leads a global organization responsible for lease administration, facilities management, capital projects and construction, workplace services, health and safety, workplace security, integrated workplace management systems (IWMS), and facilities reporting and analytics across approximately 75 locations worldwide, including both leased and owned properties.
The Vice President partners closely with business leaders, Finance, HR, Legal, Procurement, IT, Sustainability, and regional leadership to ensure facilities operations enable business objectives while maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial discipline, and a consistent employee experience.
WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
Lead Global Facilities Strategy
- Develop and execute a long-term global facilities strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
- Establish multi-year roadmaps for workplace transformation, occupancy planning, capital investments, and operational excellence.
- Create consistent global standards while enabling appropriate regional flexibility.
- Drive workplace initiatives that improve employee experience, collaboration, productivity, sustainability, and cost effectiveness.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and metrics to guide decision-making and performance management.
- Partner with Sustainability and ESG teams to advance environmental and workplace sustainability initiatives.
Oversee a Global Portfolio
- Lead oversight of a facilities portfolio spanning approximately 75 locations globally.
- Manage lease administration, landlord relationships, compliance requirements, and critical lease milestones.
- Partner with Finance and external real estate advisors to optimize portfolio utilization and occupancy costs.
- Provide executive recommendations regarding renewals, consolidations, expansions, acquisitions, and site exits.
Deliver Operational Excellence
- Establish and maintain world-class facilities management practices across all locations.
- Drive preventive maintenance, operational resilience, risk management, and business continuity programs.
- Implement governance frameworks, service standards, and operational KPIs.
- Ensure consistent service delivery through regional teams and strategic partners.
Lead Construction and Capital Projects
- Oversee office construction, relocations, renovations, and major capital projects globally.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with company standards.
- Manage project governance, budgeting, executive reporting, and vendor selection processes.
Shape the Employee Workplace Experience
- Establish global workplace design standards that create a consistent and recognizable OpenText workplace experience.
- Ensure office environments, amenities, furnishings, signage, and shared spaces reflect company culture and brand identity.
- Partner with HR, Corporate Communications, Sustainability, Marketing, and business leaders to align workplace design with employee experience objectives.
- Champion accessibility, wellbeing, collaboration, and inclusivity across all workplace environments.
Drive Health, Safety, Security and Protective Services
- Provide executive oversight of global health and safety programs.
- Lead workplace security strategy, technology, standards, access control systems, and security operations.
- Oversee protective services programs, including executive travel security and support for major corporate events.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Foster a culture where safety, security, and employee wellbeing are foundational priorities.
Advance Technology and Analytics
- Own the strategy and roadmap for the organization's Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS).
- Deliver accurate facilities reporting, dashboards, analytics, and executive insights.
- Leverage automation and technology to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Build a data-driven culture focused on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes.
Manage Financial Performance
- Develop and manage significant global operating and capital budgets.
- Drive cost optimization while maintaining exceptional service quality.
- Lead forecasting, investment planning, contract negotiations, and financial governance.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies, innovation, and sustainable cost savings.
Build Strategic Partnerships
- Develop strong relationships with global service providers, landlords, and external partners.
- Partner with Procurement and Sourcing teams on contract negotiations and vendor governance.
- Establish service-level agreements and accountability frameworks that drive performance and innovation.
Inspire and Lead Global Teams
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing global facilities organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Develop future leaders and succession plans for critical roles.
- Lead change initiatives with transparency and strong stakeholder engagement.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Facilities Management, Corporate Real Estate, Workplace Services, or related functions.
- Significant experience leading complex, global, multi-site facilities organizations.
- Proven success managing both leased and owned real estate portfolios.
- Experience overseeing capital projects, workplace services, health and safety, workplace security, and facilities technology platforms.
- Demonstrated success managing large operating and capital budgets.
- Experience leading through organizational growth, transformation, and change.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as FMP, SFP, CFM, PMP, LEED, or equivalent are considered assets.
- MBA or Master's degree as asset.
